A Note about the Wild Fires Photo Galleries from the Photographer
Click here View the Wild Fire Gallery
During the winter season, 2005-2006, Texas and Oklahoma were hit by a draught which helped fuel huge wild fires throughout both states. The region in which I live was hit by several of these fires.
This gallery is dedicated to all of the volunteer fire fighters who fought these fires
These brave people put thier lives on the line everytime they fight a fire.
Thank You!
These photographs were taken at 2 different fires, several weeks apart. The first fire, in Oklahoma was a small grass fire that shut down the highway.
The second fire was a much more serious event, that caused great loss of property and life. Without really meaning too, me and my neighbor, Debbie, stumbled into the front line of this fire, twice. Once during the day, and once during the night. For the night shots, I was heading home, the route I was taking was miles from where the fire was a couple of hours earlier. I went over a hill and once again, I was smack dab in the middle of the fire. With a highway filled with emergency vehicles, and all of them retreating, --fast. The fire was overtaking this location. I only had time for a couple of photos and I needed to leave.
The rest of the photos are from the next day. I was actually amazed at how much had survived, but also how total the devastaion was where it did hit. My heart goes out for everyone who suffered losses.
I present these photos as a record of the event, not really intending to sell them. For any sales of these photos, all profits will be donated to local volunteer fire departments. If you are interested in purchasing one of these photos, please contact me. I don't have the details worked out yet, and can let you know more if there is an interest in this.
Please feel free to donate to your local fire departments even if you do not want to purchase a photo.
